What each service actually covers.

Run in sequence or on their own. Every job is scoped against the condition of the carrier and the way you intend to use the material afterwards — the detail below is what that means in practice.

Video & Audio Tape Capture

Obsolete and at-risk formats are captured to current file-based standards on calibrated playback machines, with the signal path and settings recorded so the transfer can be trusted years from now.

Where a carrier will only survive one clean pass, the capture is treated as the last chance to get it right: condition is assessed first, the target specification is set against how you intend to use the material, and the decisions made are documented alongside the files.

  • Condition notes on each carrier

Tape Restoration

Video and audio tape that sticks, sheds or will not thread is treated and physically rebuilt before capture — recovering material that a single bad pass would have destroyed.

Sticky-shed binder, warped reels, shedding oxide and failed splices each call for a different sequence. Treatment is prescribed per item, carried out in the bay, and followed immediately by transfer while the tape is at its most playable.

  • Advice on what restoration can and cannot recover

Archival Services

Asset-manager ingestLTO archiveRetrieval

Files are ingested into the asset-management platform you already work in, with LTO archiving and retrieval so the master stays safe while access copies do the daily work.

Naming, folder logic and the separation of masters from derivatives are set up front, and retrieval is tested rather than assumed — an archive nobody can get material back out of has not been built yet.

Metadata Management

Transcription, closed captioning and structured description — the layer that turns a shelf of digital files into a library a researcher, editor or licensee can actually search.

Description schemes are fitted to the collection in hand, with timecoded logging of people, places and subjects, and provenance and rights data recorded alongside the content so a promising clip does not become a dead end.
